Kielder Trail News
Listing the latest trail information for riders.
The Bloody Bush trail is closed until further notice due to lots of trees blown down over the trail. The scale of the damage will need machinery to clear, so could be a little while before this is open again. Please observe the warning signs.
The whole of the Up and Over Black section off the Deadwater trail is now open! A massive restructuring of the lower section down Forrest's Dive is now complete. The boys from NDH along with the contractors have done a fantastic job constructing new features to make this section into our signature downhill Black run. The last section down to the Forest Drive is still off limits while felling work takes place. When harvesting is finished, this section will also be revamped as part of this exciting new downhill trail.
Deadwater Trail. The whole Kersey Cleugh/3 Dog climb area has been changed around following felling operations. We now have a new climb from the bottom road to join 3 Dog climb, then via Saved by the Bell the Kersey Cleugh section now runs in the reverse direction giving this trail a whole new feel. At the end of this you can either cross over on Jimmy's Hill and return to Kielder, or turn left and head up the fire road where you have a choice!! The top part of 3 Dog climb, is now a very swoopy descent (3 Dog Descent), taking you back to Saved by the Bell and then along Kersey Cleugh again, creating a loop that can be sessioned. To finish off take the right hand fire road up to the start of Into the Valley as before. Difficult to explain without a map, but if in doubt, call in to our Kielder Cycle Centre for the full SP.
We are busy revamping other trails in the Kielder network, laying down a better surface, and improving existing features. Anyone who fancies helping with these projects should register their interest on the News section at www.kieldertrailreavers.co.uk or call 01434 250457.
Osprey Chick trail now open!! A nice extra section of flowing singletrack has been added to the Osprey Short (now Chick) trail. This is also signed from the Lakeside Way, so can be added as a nice finish to the Osprey (Long) trail.
Lonesome Pine - the second section of hand built trail at Capon Hassock is now connected to CH 1 - to get involved in further building visit the trail build section on www.kieldertrailreavers.co.uk
Woodstock - IS NOW SAVED!!! 180 gripper plates have been installed by the KTR team, one on each board. It now rides like a dream - wet or dry. Apart from a small contribution from FC, this improvement was funded by KTR from monies raised from our Marathon Series. Thanks to all who have contributed over the years.
